Armstrong scores 4 early TDs for Plantation
Plantation’s Carlinton Armstrong scored four of the Colonels’ first five touchdowns and the Plantation defense limited visiting Hialeah American to just 1 yard in the first half as the Colonels dominated the visiting Patriots 45-8 in a 7Agold-bracket tri-county football championship quarter final.
Xavier Bolden opened the scoring for Plantation as he raced 35 yards for a touchdown and an 8-0 lead midway through the opening quarter.
On the final play of the first quarter, Armstrong pushed the Colonels lead to
16-0 on a 7-yard touchdown run.
After American fumbled the ensuing kickoff, Plantation capitalized on the turnover as senior quarterback Cedquan Smith tossed a 1-yard touchdown pass to Armstrong for a 24-0 lead.
The Colonels continued the rout when Armstrong added second- quarter touchdown runs of 24 and
28 yards, giving Plantation a commanding 39-0 halftime lead.
Plantation moves on to host Dwyer in the 7A gold semifinals next Friday.
