Atlantic senior quarterb ac kGu en son Alexis passed for four touchdowns and rushed for another, senior running back Montahj Joseph and senior wide receiver Tyler Burke both scored two touchdowns, and the host Eagles cruised past North Miami 54-7 in the Class 7A Gold bracket tri- county playoff opening-round contest Friday night.

Atlantic ( 3-1) had a dominant performanc­e and scored on its first five possession­s during the first half. TheEagles pulled away with a 21-0 lead after the first quarter and had a 40-7 advantage at halftime.

The Eagles jumped out to the lead on their opening drive as Alexis connected with senior wide receiver Ra shawn Faustine on a deep pass towardthe right corner of the end zone to make it 7-0 with 9:19 left in the first.

The Eagles defense had a fumble recovery later in the first. The Eagles offense capitalize­d with the short field as junior Marquis Lymon raced up the middle for a 32-yard touchdown run to give them a 14-0 lead.

The Eagles marched downfield and converted on a fourth-down run deep in North Miami territory to extend their next drive. Alexis rolled out to the right and found Joseph left wide open in the flat as he turned upfield and went in untouched to push the lead to 21-0 with 2:27 left in the first.
