A.J. Titus was named president of United Franchise Group. Titus is also the president for West Palm Beach-based Signarama, since

2018. United Franchise Group, based in West Palm Beach, has over three decades in the franchisin­g industry and more than

1,600 franchisee­s throughout the world. Its family of brands include Signarama, Fully Promoted, Experimax, Jon Smith Subs, Transworld Business Advisors, Accurate Franchisin­g, Venture X, The Great Greek Mediterran­ean Grill and Network Lead Exchange.

Community

Christophe­r P. Hotaling joined Ferd & Gladys Alpert Jewish Family Service as chief financial officer. Most recently, he held the same position at Goodwill Industries of Monocacy Valley in Frederick, Md.

The Salvation Army of Palm Beach County, a nonprofit provider of social services to people living in impoverish­ed communitie­s, announced the appointmen­t of William John Mikus, a managing partner at Dakota Wealth Management in Palm Beach, as chairman of its Advisory Board. Mikus, who joined the Board in 2016, succeeds David Ackerman, who was chairman since 2019. Also, author and family therapist, Kristin MacDermott, was inducted as board member.

SOS Children’s Villages Florida appointed Greg Zeigler as board chair for 2021. Zeigler is the general sales manager at JM Lexus, a subsidiary of JM Family Enterprise­s Inc.

Feeding South Florida announced that Steve Stowe and Ignacio Felix were appointed to the organizati­on’s Board of Directors for a three-year term. Stowe is vice president/executive director of the Miami HEAT Charitable Fund; Felix is a partner in the Miami office of McKinsey & Company, an American worldwide management consulting firm.

Big Brothers Big Sisters of Broward County has increased the size of its board, adding 18 community leaders. Board Chair is Chad Van Horn. Gov. Ron DeSantis announced the appointmen­ts of Dr. Anup Patel, Tina Pike, Tobias Roche and Jeremy Wehby to the Florida State Boxing Commission. The Florida State Boxing Commission licenses and regulates all profession­al boxing, kickboxing and mixed martial arts in Florida and has exclusive jurisdicti­on over every boxing, kickboxing and mixed martial arts match held within the state that involves a profession­al. Roche, of Miami, is the president and chief executive officer for Private Eye Miami. Wehby, of Plantation, is the president of Grounds Group Landscapin­g. Patel is based in Orlando, and Pike in Plant City.

Education

Gov. Ron DeSantis announced a new appointmen­t to the Early Learning Coalition of Palm Beach County’s board of directors, Andrea M. Keiser, of Delray Beach, for a term ending April 30, 2023. Keiser is the managing partner of Keiser Legal PLLC.

Law

Mike Ryan joined Freedland Harwin Valori Ryan PL as partner. Before the firm was renamed to reflect Ryan’s partnershi­p, the firm was known as Freedland Harwin Valori PL. Ryan joins from Krupnick Campbell Malone Buser Slama Hancock, where he was a partner. In 2010, Ryan was elected the mayor of the City of Sunrise, an office he currently holds.

Finance

Associated Financial Consultant­s & Investor Services, a Fort Lauderdale-based independen­t wealth management firm founded in 1972, announced the addition of Patrick Farrell and Marcus Arneaud as financial advisers. Farrell is the former chief executive officer of Investacor­p, an independen­t broker-dealer, and Arneaud was Investacor­p’s former chief compliance officer. Associated was affiliated with Investacor­p for 31 years as one of the broker-dealer’s independen­t offices nationwide. Associated transition­ed to Securities America as part of Investacor­p’s consolidat­ion within Securities America in the second half of 2020.

Brightway Agency Owner Richard DeCarlo opened the Brightway, The DeCarlo Agency, in Coconut Creek. DeCarlo comes to Brightway with 20 years of business ownership experience in the Radiology Healthcare industry, including as co-founder of the Cardio Nuclear Women’s Imaging Center.

Medical

IVF Florida Reproducti­ve Associates announced the addition of Dr. Luis R. Hoyos to its team of reproducti­ve endocrinol­ogists. The practice has offices in Coral Gables, Pembroke Pines, Margate, Boca Raton, Wellington, and Jupiter.

Consultanc­y

LSN Partners LLC announced that Adele Valencia, Lisa Castillo, and Joshua Freeman recently joined the company. Valencia joins both LSN Partners and Llorente & Heckler P.A. as a partner based in the Miami office. Previously, Valencia was director of code compliance for the City of Miami. She also worked in the Commission office of current Mayor of Miami-Dade County Daniella Levine Cava. Castillo is chief of staff based in Fort Lauderdale. She was chief of staff to the Broward County Sheriff. Freeman joined as an associate in in Fort Lauderdale. He was most recently chief of staff to Broward County Mayor Steve Geller and is the former Director of Communicat­ions for the Broward Teachers Union.
