Flaky idea? Herro out with ‘HerrO’s Fruit Hoops’ cereal

- By Ira Winderman

To Tyler Herro the reasoning is straight forward when it comes to HerrO’s Fruit Hoops.

“I mean,” the Miami Heat guard said, “who wouldn’t want their own cereal?”

With the added bonus that digging into a bowl benefits the T. Herro Foundation, which “aims to inspire and improve the lives of the next generation by focusing on initiatives that promote physical play, wellness, and creativity.”

Herro said the project began a year ago, with the coronavirus pandemic then altering the rollout.

According to the product’s website, “Due to high demand, Herro’s fruit hoops are currently out of stock until the week of February 15th. HerrO’s will continue to be sold with orders shipping once product is available.”

The product, described as “multi-colored, fruit-flavored frosted rolls” is being sold in twin packs for $24.99, available at https://plbse.com/products/ herros-fruit-hoops.

“It’s been a dream of mine to be able to have my own cereal,” the 21-year-old guard out of Kentucky said, as the Heat prepared for Wednesday night’s game against the Washington Wizards at AmericanAirlines

Arena.

He described his input on the process in the release announcing the product.

“I got to help develop the type of cereal, the box and the colors to fit my personal style,” he said.

Teammate Goran Dragic said he’s in.

“If I can support Tyler and if this is for some good cause, yeah, definitely,” he said. “I’m here for my

teammates. And definitely now that I know I’m going to reach out to him and try to get some cereal for the kids.”

The company producing Herro’s line also markets Patrick Mahomes’ “Mahomes Magic Crunch,” Doug Flutie’s “Flutie Flakes,” Josh Allen’s “Josh Jaq’s,” Barstool Sports’ “Pardon My Flakes,” among others. HerrO’s Fruit Hoops marks the company’s first launch of 2021.

As for the supermarket brands, Herro said his preference is Cinnamon Toast Crunch.

In promoting the product, he joked on a Complex Sports podcast that his product still could be part of the Heat’s notorious conditioning program.

“I think as long as you’re getting your cardio in,” he said, “you can sneak a bowl in here and there.”
