Patricia Nickerson Flor, born March 14, 1939 in New Bedford, Massachusetts, died peacefully in her home in Tamarac, Florida on March

30th, surrounded by the love of her family and a community of friends. Ms. Flor loved her family very much and cared deeply about people. Daughter of Agnes Gonsalves and Manuel de Ornellas Flor, she had fond memories of her childhood in New Bedford and days spent with her dear grandmother, Avó. Pat graduated from New Bedford High School in 1956 and then worked as a secretary at Revere Copper and Brass. She moved to Cape Cod in 1963, when she married Thomas Brewer Nickerson, and resided in Orleans for thirty years. In

1993 she relocated to San Diego, CA to help care for dear friends there. She had twelve wonderful years in San Diego, and in 2005 returned to the east coast to be closer to family and moved to Tamarac, Florida. Pat loved the arts, especially music, singing and dancing, movies, and the theater. She was an avid reader and enjoyed writing, photography and nature. She cherished walks at dawn along Provincetown harbor and at Nauset Beach, and enjoying the museums, performing arts, and gardens in Balboa Park.

A kind, caring, and generous spirit, Pat lived a life of service. Most recently in Florida, she was a Tamarac Library volunteer, a member of the Lime Bay Women’s Club, an usher and active participant in the Senior Saints, Shepherd Group, Women’s Bible Study and Episcopal Church Women (ECW) groups at St. Mary Magdalene Episcopal Church, and an enthusiastic participant in the many activities at Wickshire Senior Living.

Pat Flor was a loving person. She spread joy, light and peace. She is preceded in death by her parents, and her former husband. She is survived by her daughter Bethany Ann Nickerson and son in-law John Wagner of Washington, D.C.; her son Thomas Brewer Nickerson, Jr., and daughter in-law Jody Nickerson of Deerfield, Wisconsin; her grandchildren Anabel Grace Nickerson, Cole Thomas Nickerson, Arden Rose Nickerson, Calvin Nickerson Wagner and Nathan Nickerson Wagner; her sisters Dorothy Gatheral and Lorraine Lawrence; and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends she stayed in close touch with across the country.

A service will be held at Church of the Holy Spirit in Orleans in the fall. Memorial donations may be sent to American Cancer Society (www.cancer.org), St. Mary Magdalene Episcopal Church (1400 Riverside Dr, Coral Springs, FL 33071), or to a charity of one’s choice.
