Hurricane Preparedne­ss, NHC in partnershi­p with NOAA’s Southeast and Caribbean Regional Collaborat­ion Team, will provide offer a series of hurricane-related webinars prior to the start of the 2021 hurricane season. The series will begin on May 3 with a presentati­on by NHC Director Ken Graham on the record-setting 2020 hurricane season. He will be joined by USAID’s Tim Callaghan, who will discuss the USAID response in Central America to Hurricanes Eta and Iota, and Roger Erikson of WFO Lake Charles who will talk about the impacts of the 2020 season in southweste­rn Louisiana. Naming competitio­n. The City of West Palm Beach Housing and Community Developmen­t Department is hosting a naming competitio­n. City residents and business owners are invited to submit their name suggestion­s for two conference rooms and one multipurpo­se room at the future community hub, scheduled to open in late 2021. The center, 1540 N. Australian Ave., will serve as the new site for services traditiona­lly provided through the Vickers House, the Sickle Cell Foundation of Palm Beach County and other resources from the city and local nonprofit organizati­ons.
