Hurricane Preparedness, NHC in partnership with NOAA’s Southeast and Caribbean Regional Collaboration Team, will provide offer a series of hurricane-related webinars prior to the start of the 2021 hurricane season. The series will begin on May 3 with a presentation by NHC Director Ken Graham on the record-setting 2020 hurricane season. He will be joined by USAID’s Tim Callaghan, who will discuss the USAID response in Central America to Hurricanes Eta and Iota, and Roger Erikson of WFO Lake Charles who will talk about the impacts of the 2020 season in southwestern Louisiana. Naming competition. The City of West Palm Beach Housing and Community Development Department is hosting a naming competition. City residents and business owners are invited to submit their name suggestions for two conference rooms and one multipurpose room at the future community hub, scheduled to open in late 2021. The center, 1540 N. Australian Ave., will serve as the new site for services traditionally provided through the Vickers House, the Sickle Cell Foundation of Palm Beach County and other resources from the city and local nonprofit organizations. The proposed name for the building itself is the “Eva W. Mack Community Hub,” which will be presented for commission approval prior to construction completion.
