Dragic, Herro out vs. Bulls; Oladipo sidelined for 9th game

- By Ira Winderman

The Miami Heat’s pendulum of injury uncertainty took a turn for the worse Saturday, with the team announcing at midday that guards Goran Dragic and Tyler Herro were out for Saturday night’s game against the Chicago Bulls at AmericanAirlines Arena.

In addition, guard Victor Oladipo remained out.

Dragic and Herro played in Friday’s 118-103 loss to the Atlanta Hawks at State Farm Arena, but previously had missed time.

Dragic was listed as out on the NBA’s 1:30 p.m. injury report due to lower-back and right-knee injury recovery, the term the Heat have used for games they have rested the 34-year-old veteran.

It is the second time this month the Heat have held Dragic out on the second night of a back-to-back set, also doing so on April 1 against the Golden State Warriors and April 14 against the Denver Nuggets. Dragic previously had missed three games in March due to lower-back spasms.

Dragic struggled in his 17:53 in Friday’s loss in Atlanta, closing 1 of 3 from the field, with three points, two assists and one rebound.

Herro was listed out due to a sore right foot, an injury that also kept him out of Monday night’s home victory over the Houston Rockets. He then returned to score 22 points in Wednesday night’s road victory over the San Antonio Spurs and 12 in Friday’s loss to the Hawks, when he was the lone Heat reserve to score in double figures.

In missing the Bulls game, Oladipo has now missed the past nine games due to a sore right knee. His last action came in the April 8 home victory over the Los Angeles Lakers, when he landed awkwardly on a dunk in the second half.

He has appeared in four games for the Heat since being acquired from the Houston Rockets at the March 25 NBA trading deadline.

The Bulls remained shorthanded, with guard Zach LaVine in the NBA’s health and safety protocols.

The Heat and Bulls also play Monday at AmericanAirlines Arena.
