NAIOP South Florida, the Commercial Real Estate Development Association, announced the following officers for the 2022 Board of Directors: President is Christopher Thomson, Cushman & Wakefield executive managing director; President-Elect, Dan Cioci, Risk Strategies Co. senior vice president; Treasurer, Alex Gulick, Procacci Development Corp. chief financial officer; and Secretary, Lauren Pace, Duke Realty senior leasing representative.
Medical
Broward Health Medical Center named Lester R. Eljaiek as its regional chief financial officer. Eljaiek will lead the financial operations of the Fort Lauderdale hospital and Salah Foundation Children’s Hospital.
Ashley Vertuno, chief executive officer at JFK Medical Center — North Campus of HCA Florida Healthcare, was named the 2022 Palm Beach County Go Red for Women Chair. The American Heart Association will be hosting its Palm Beach County Go Red for Women Luncheon on April 27 at the Pelican Club in Jupiter.
FoundCare, Inc. appointed Christopher Irizarry as the nonprofit healthcare center’s second chief executive officer.
Board-certified medical oncologist Reshma Mahtani, D.O., joined Miami Cancer Institute, part of Baptist Health, as the new chief of breast medical oncology. Mahtani specializes in the treatment and clinical research of breast cancer.
Business development
Randall Deich joined the Greater Fort Lauderdale Alliance as its director of education and talent attraction. He previously worked as a computer science teacher and adjunct professor at Lauderhill 6-12 STEM-MED and is a graduate of Nova High School Class of 1986.

Florida’s Children First announced the addition of Justin Grosz to its Board of Directors. Grosz is a co-business unit leader/partner at Kelley Kronenberg’s Justice for Kids Division.
Whitney Dutton, who operates The Dutton Group@Re/Max First in Fort Lauderdale, was invited to serve on the steering committee for Project Opioid Broward, an initiative of the Greater Fort Lauderdale Alliance Foundation in partnership with the Florida Blue Foundation. As a steering committee member, Dutton will work to address the growing opioid epidemic in Broward County alongside community leaders including committee co-chairs Lisa Lutoff Perlo, CEO of Celebrity Cruises, Shane Strum, CEO of Broward Health, and Broward County

Recognition
In honor of National Women’s History Month in March, the Broward County Commission on the Status of Women recognizes nine members in the healthcare field. They are: Dr. Abdool-Ghany, a clinical director at Acorn Health; Michelle Bitter-Oakley, owner of Soul Be Well Holistic Center in Coral Springs; Iris Gonzalez, national vice president of Transformation at ChenMed and also the program director at the Institute of Industrial and Systems Engineers; Sarah Leonardi, a teacher and school board member for Broward County’s District 3; Glenis Ortega McEwen, who ran her own company, GlenTech Services, and then in 2017, launched a Wellness Coaching program; Jackie Rosen, a founder of the nonprofit Florida Initiative for Suicide Prevention Inc.. and in 2015 created the Helping Overcome Problems Effectively, HOPE, Sunshine Clubs, geared toward middle and high school students in Broward County; Laura Valentine Shapiro, a Certified Anesthesiology Assistant, currently practicing in the Baptist Health system; Andrea Sleeper, a volunteer at the National Multiple Sclerosis Society
of South Florida; and Beth Tache, who is currently is on the board for the Sheriff ’s Foundation of Broward County; co-chair of
Broward Mental Health Summit; Ambassador Council Chairperson for 211 Broward
and a chairperson with United Way.
