Mansion inspired by Frank Lloyd Wright highlights amazing sunrises

- By Robyn A. Friedman

A 12,707-square-foot, Frank Lloyd Wright-inspired mansion was recently listed for $30 million.

The four-level home, at 3500 N. Bay Homes Drive in Coconut Grove, is located on a .37-acre lot fronting Biscayne Bay and boasts water views from almost every room. It has five bedrooms, six baths, an elevator, a six-car air-conditioned garage and a new state-of-the-art dock.

Touches of Frank Lloyd Wright are seen in the multiple balconies, terraces and patios, as well as the cantilevered roofs that create shaded outdoor spaces. There is also a rooftop terrace.

“What makes this property special are the unobstructed Biscayne Bay views,” said Al Arostegui, a real estate broker with ONE Sotheby’s International Realty in Coral Gables, who holds the listing. “The sunrises are killer.”

Additional features of the gated home include a double-height living room with custom stained-glass water birds on the windows, an indoor meditation garden and a kitchen with blue countertops and a massive blue island. There are also

cedar-wood accents on the walls and Cuban-tile flooring.

Outside, there is a pool and deck area, several patios and seating areas and a sustainably designed dock.

Public records show that the home is owned by Alan

Sirkin and Alicia Sirkin, his wife, who purchased the property for $350,000 in October 1984 from the Estate of Tennessee Williams. They custombuilt the home, which was completed in 1990.

Arostegui said they are

selling because they plan to buy a smaller home in South Florida and spend more time at their home in Aspen.

Arostegui said he’s received a number of inquiries since the home was listed on Valentine’s Day and that the ultimate buyer may

opt either to renovate the home or tear it down.

“Somebody will probably come in and modernize it to make it their own, but I’ve seen brand-new houses where buyers come in and tear parts of it down,” he said.
