- Please sign guestbook on www.sun-sentinel.com/obituaries

January 21, 1985 - January 27. 2022 Jonathan David Chapel returned home to Our Maker, on Thursday, January 27th, 2022. He was the beloved first-born son of Hilda M. Porrata-Doria and Juan A. Chapel. Jonathan is survived by them, his siblings Christopher J. Chapel (Rachel) and Chloe-Ann Chapel (Jhoan Pimentel and their son Sebastian); his aunt-godmother Giovanna Porrata-Doria; aunt Aurea Porrata-Doria; aunts Ana, Lissette and Elba Chapel; his uncle Carlos Melendez; his “Poppy“Dan Remigino, Sr; multiple cousins and his extended group home family- Maribel, Robert, Jeffrey, Van and staff. Jonathan fulfilled his Earthly mission in an exemplary fashion. He made a lasting and positive impression on everyone with whom he interacted. He spoke from his heart, with no need for words. His treatment towards others was the true definition of unconditional love and total acceptance. He had a keen sense about people’s intentions, and would let you know if he sensed something other than kindness and love. He enjoyed all of the simple things- walks in the park, runs to the McDonald’s drive thru for ice cream and french fries, playing with his collection of balls, watching cartoons, hugging his loved ones and dancing…lots of dancing!! Although tremendously saddened by the physical loss of Jonathan, he will live forever in our hearts and memories. He is now our angel, watching over us from heaven. Thank you for teaching us so much about what really matters in life, my beloved son! Mommy adores you…”A dormir, a dormir, porque ya es hora de dormir”. A very special thanks to the staff at the Mount Sinai Medical Center in Miami Beach, FL (Skolnick Surgical Tower), who took wonderful care of Jonathan. In particular, Dr. Goldes and nurses Jessica Garcia, Patrice Diaz and Debbie. Your support was indispensable and very much appreciated, during this most difficult time for our family. Due to COVID and other logistical reasons, we will hold a Mass and Memorial Celebration for Jonathan, in the not too distant future. We will be providing details via our social media platforms. We hope as many of our family and friends will be able to join us for that. In lieu of flowers, we would appreciate donations to The National Down Syndrome Society.
