Matthew Stock works for a math-education nonprofit in East St. Louis, Ill. Will Nediger, of London, Ontario, is a professional crossword constructor. As fans of each other’s work, they connected via the online “puzzleverse.” They still have not met or even spoken together over video. The original idea for this puzzle was Matthew’s.
