Natalie L. Dodero
Natalie Leavy Dodero of Ft. Lauderdale passed away on May 30, 2022 at the age of 89. Born on July
22, 1932 in New York to George and Lena Kostel Leavy, Natalie was the youngest of 3 daughters. After being raised in Brooklyn, she obtained a Bachelors’ Degree in Fine Arts from Syracuse University in 1953. At the beginning of her career, Natalie was a fabric designer in New York for 20 years. Later, after her move to Florida in 1975, she was the owner and proprietor of The Art & Frame Shop, a custom picture framing establishment. Natalie met the love of her life, Pietro Dodero, in late 1958 while taking a cruise. Pietro was the chief engineer of the SS Homeric when they met; the couple married just over one year later on January
21, 1960. They had 55 years together until Pietro predeceased her in 2015. Natalie enjoyed a life filled with beauty. Professionally, she was always surrounded by the fine art and objects she either created or framed. Personally, she was an avid gardener, able to nurture any plant in her care. Her prize was a vast collection of dozens of orchids that she had carefully cultivated for years. She also had a tremendous love for dogs, owning numerous terrier breeds over her lifetime. She is survived by her loving family, daughters Lisa and Roberta (Mario), her grandchildren, Alex, Daniel, Francesca and Simona as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
