Girl Choir of South Florida sets auditions, expands to Coral Springs

- By Jennifer Shapiro-Sacks

The Girl Choir of South Florida is expanding its youth program to a satellite rehearsal location in Coral Springs.

The award-winning choir, for girls ages 6 to 18, will begin rehearsals at the end of August at St. Mary Magdalene Episcopal Church, 1400 Riverside Drive.

Entering its 18th year, the Girl Choir provides musical instruction and performance opportunities for young singers.

“We wanted to offer an option for members from Coral Springs and surrounding cities that is closer to home for them,” Artistic and Executive Director Sylvia Aycock said in a statement.

Three new ensembles will rehearse on Monday evenings at the church: the Prelude Choir (ages 6 to 10), the Melody Choir (ages 9 to 13) and the Harmony Choir (advanced singers ages 12 to 18).

Open auditions will be from 10 a.m. to noon Aug. 20 and from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Aug. 27 at the Girl Choir headquarters, 319 Tarpon Drive, in Fort Lauderdale.

No experience is required. Visit girlchoir.org/join-us/, email info@girlchoir.org, or call 954-533-9227.
