Get free tickets to visit History Fort Lauderdale
Magazine will provide special admission Sept. 17 for Smithsonian Museum Day
Free tickets are now available for Smithsonian Museum Day at History Fort Lauderdale from 10 a.m.-4 p.m. on Sept. 17.
Guests will experience the stories, art and industry of Fort Lauderdale at History of Fort Lauderdale, which is celebrating its 60th anniversary, through educational experiences, cultural exhibits, research and artifacts.
Hosted by Smithsonian magazine, participating museums and cultural institutions across the country provide free entry to anyone presenting a Museum Day ticket.
Museum Day participants can view permanent exhibits in the New River Inn History Museum, including “Dugouts to Dream
Yachts — the story of boat building on the New River,” “Seminole Arts & Culture,” “Archaeology of the New River,” “Henry Flagler & FEC Railroad,” “The Bryans of Fort Lauderdale” and “Juliette Lange: A Portrait of a Mezzo Soprano,” among others.
Also on display will be “Viva Fort Lauderdale: Celebrating Hispanic Art & Culture” featuring works by Leonardo Montoya, Lifrancis Rojas, Isabel Perez, Florencia Clement de Grandprey, Hernan Rodriquez and others artists.
Visitors can also check out the 1907 Pioneer House Museum and the 1899 Ivy Cromartie Schoolhouse Museum.
