Honoring 9/11 victims and battling misconceptions
I was born after the 9/11 tragedy. Like many, I am devastated to hear stories about the attack and its impact on society. The significance of human life is indescribable, making these anniversaries particularly sad.
In the aftermath of Sept. 11, 2001, Islamic teachings were taken out of context. A misconception formed that Muslim people impose violence and hatred on others. This claim is false and misleads people about Islam’s true meaning — a religion founded on peace and a strong belief in the sanctity of life.
It places great importance on respect for others and values love above all else. The Ahmadiyya Muslim Community has kept a tradition of donating blood as part of a national campaign known as “Muslims for Life,” which honors 9/11 victims.
Donating and sacrificing to help others fulfills Islam’s true meaning and spirit.
