Alyce Polcyn Fogarty

-

Alyce was born in Cleveland, Ohio on October 8, 1925 and died peacefully in Fort Lauderdale, Florida on September 25, 2017. She graduated from Ohio State University with undergraduate and graduate degrees in nursing and then became one of the most beloved and popular nursing professors there. She was extraordinarily kind, thoughtful, playful, curious and intelligent with a deep Catholic faith. Anyone who may have mistaken her for a pushover would soon discover that she had a spine of steel. Alyce was passionate about dogs, travel and cooking. She was the daughter of John S. and Lucille Polcyn, sister of Christine Alvina Polcyn and Dr. John L. Polcyn, and married James F. Fogarty, Jr., the love of her life, who died in 1980. She is survived by his daughters, Katharine Fogarty Isbrandtsen and her husband, Hans Isbrandtsen, Elizabeth Fogarty and her husband Geoffrey Walsh, her nephew, John L Polcyn II, and his wife, Catherine Holden, and nieces Ira Polcyn McEvoy, and Pamela Helen Polcyn. We miss Alyce terribly and if we play our cards right, we will hopefully see her in heaven!
