John “Jack” T. Clements
John (Jack) T. Clements passed away on August 14,
2022, at the Holy Cross Hospital in Ft Lauderdale, Florida after a brief illness. Jack was born on June
11, 1948, to the late Robert H. and Barbara (Russell) Clements in Meriden, Connecticut. Jack graduated from Middletown High in 1967. He worked for many years in the family jewelry business in Meriden, Connecticut before moving to Ft. Lauderdale. He spent many years in Florida working, as he would say, as a “clerky worky”. Jack loved the arts and volunteered many hours at the Broward Center for the Performing Arts in Ft. Lauderdale. Jack was honored to receive the “Volunteer of the Year” award from Broward Center. Jack found his South Florida family with his fellow employees at Carroll’s Jewelers, celebrating holidays and life milestones with them. He would often voice publicly that he was adopted into the Family, and he would privately claim that he had found the son he never had. Everyone that loved Jack was so happy that he found the love of his life, Rene Franco. Jack’s time with Rene was short, but he was blessed to have Rene. The love that Rene gave to Jack will never be forgotten by those that knew Jack. Jack was predeceased by his twin sister, Cathy, in 2013. Jack is survived by his sister, Roberta (Bertie) and Don Gatton of New Hampshire, a brother, Bill Clements of Massachusetts. He is also survived by nephew Tom
Gatton, his wife Tracey, of Massachusetts as well as nieces Katie Gatton, Meghan Clements, and Brittany Clements all from Massachusetts.
A Celebration of Life will be held for Jack in the New River Room, at the Broward Center for the Performing Arts, Sunday October 23, from 3 to 5pm. All are welcome. In lieu of flowers, donate to the Broward Center for the Performing Arts.
