In-person early voting begins Monday and runs through Nov. 6 — letting eager voters cast their ballot ahead of the Nov. 8 general election.

Joe Scott, Broward’s elections supervisor, encourages voters not to wait till the last minute. “Early voting is the way to go,” he says. Voters may go to any early voting location, including one “close to your job, or vote with a friend.” Scott says, “It’s much easier. You have a lot more options.”

Here’s what you need to know.

Hours

The polls are open each day from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.

Early voting locations

Early voting sites are situated across each county, making it easy to find a location near you.

In Broward County, there are 24 locations. Also, Broward voters may choose to drop off their vote-by-mail ballots in secure drop boxes, but only during operating hours. For the full list of Broward locations, visit browardvotes.gov.

In Palm Beach County, there are 21 early voting locations. For the list of Palm Beach County’s early voting locations, as well as drop-box locations, visit pbcelections.org.

What to bring

A voter must bring a current and valid photo and signature ID when voting at the polls during early voting or on Election Day. According to election supervisors, acceptable photo IDs are:

Florida driver’s license

Florida ID card, issued by the Department of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles. U.S. Passport debit or credit card military ID student ID

„ retirement center ID

„ neighborhood association ID

„ public assistance ID

„ veteran health ID, issued by the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs

„ concealed weapon license

„ Employee ID card, issued by any branch, department, agency, or entity of the federal government, the state, a county or a municipality.

If your photo ID excludes your signature, you must have another ID that contains your signature. If you don’t bring your ID, you may still vote: But you’ll be required to vote through a provisional ballot, which a canvassing board later will evaluate for eligibility.

New appointment feature in Palm Beach County

In Palm Beach County, there is a new optional program that allows a voter to make an appointment at an early voting location at their preferred day and time.

The voter can select the start time for their appointment slot, which will reserve the spot in line for 15 minutes. Reminders will come by text or email and provide a link so the voter can let the location know

that they’ve arrived. A second notification will let the voter know when they can come inside to vote. The appointment booking link also is available at pbcelections.org.
