Gore reportedly pleads guilty in assault case

Miami Hurricanes and NFL great Frank Gore, who also played for the Miami Dolphins, reportedly agreed to a guilty plea to settle criminal charges he faced after being arrested for domestic violence last summer.

According to TMZ, the former star running back pleaded guilty to violating the public health nuisance code in New Jersey and was ordered to pay about $2,000 in fines and court fees. Gore, who had been charged with simple assault, also had a false imprisonment charge dismissed stemming from the July 31 incident.

TMZ Sports reported last August that, according to court documents, Gore was being accused of forcibly grabbing a naked woman by her hair and dragging her across a hotel room’s hallway during an altercation in Atlantic City, N.J.

The incident occurred in the early morning hours of July 31 at the Tropicana Casino and Resort, according to Atlantic City police on Aug. 9.

“The victim did not exhibit signs of injury and complaints were not filed at the time,” police said. “However, an ensuing investigation resulted in Franklin Gore being charged with simple assault related to the domestic violence incident.”

Gore starred at UM from 200104, had a 10-year run with five Pro Bowl selections with the 49ers and then finished his NFL career with stints with the Colts (2015-17), Dolphins (2018), Bills (2019) and Jets (2020). Gore played 16 seasons in the NFL and his 16,000 career rushing yards stands third all-time in NFL history. He becomes eligible for Hall of Fame induction in 2026.

Gore, 39, became a professional boxer after his playing days.
