Cham­ber fea­tur­ing best-sell­ing au­thor, chef at busi­ness lun­cheon

Mi­ami - The Mi­ami-Dade Cham­ber of Com­merce is shift­ing fo­cus from busi­ness to health with its an­nual Sym­po­sium and Busi­ness Lead­ers Lun­cheon. This year’s event, on Fri­day, March 23 at the Hy­att Re­gency, fo­cuses on Healthy Liv­ing: Chang­ing Lives, Strength­en­ing Our Com­mu­ni­ties and fea­tures some­one who has “been there, done that.” Charles Mat­tock, an award-win­ning film­maker, celebrity chef and best-sell­ing au­thor of three books, is the key­note speaker.

Fol­low­ing a 2011 di­ag­no­sis of Type II di­a­betes, Mat­tock be­came a health ad­vo­cate on a mis­sion to help peo­ple nav­i­gate the dis­ease and its pre­ven­tion. Mat­tock’s hit TV show, “Re­versed,” the first ever re­al­ity doc­u­men­tary TV se­ries to fo­cus on di­a­betes, fol­lows five peo­ple liv­ing with the dis­ease. It airs on the Dis­cov­ery Life net­work ev­ery Tues­day at 7pm EST. Mat­tock is also near­ing com­ple­tion of a doc­u­men­tary, “The Di­a­betic You.”

He is a pub­lished au­thor with the Amer­i­can Di­a­betes As­so­ci­a­tion with a new cook­book, “The Bud­get-Friendly Fresh & Lo­cal Di­a­betes Cook­book” and a chil­dren’s book for fam­i­lies man­ag­ing di­a­betes.
