Ur­ban League, Broward Col­lege col­lab hosts Florida ex­ec­u­tive

FORT LAUD­ERDALE, Fla. – Fol­low­ing the re­ceipt of a $3,187,500 Florida Job Growth Grant for Work­force Train­ing, Broward Col­lege, Ur­ban League of Broward, Ca­reerSource Broward and the Greater Fort Laud­erdale Al­liance hosted Cissy Proc­tor, ex­ec­u­tive di­rec­tor of the Florida Depart­ment of Eco­nomic Op­por­tu­nity, at the Broward Col­lege Emil Buehler Avi­a­tion In­sti­tute.

Proc­tor toured the fa­cil­ity, spoke with staff and learned how the grant, which aims to train 1,500 and cre­ate 1,275 lo­cal jobs, will be im­ple­mented. A pri­or­ity of the grant is to cre­ate and fill lo­cal jobs in the avi­a­tion, ad­vanced man­u­fac­tur­ing and in­for­ma­tion tech­nol­ogy in­dus­tries through en­gage­ment with the South Florida busi­ness com­mu­nity.

“Con­grat­u­la­tions to Broward Col­lege on your Florida Job Growth Grant Fund award. The Crit­i­cal Oc­cu­pa­tion Re­sponse through Ed­u­ca­tion (CORE) pro­gram high­lights your com­mit­ment to pro­vid­ing sus­tain­able and trans­fer­able work­force skills for par­tic­i­pants in emerg­ing ar­eas such as ad­vanced man­u­fac­tur­ing, avi­a­tion and in­for­ma­tion tech­nol­ogy,” said Cissy Proc­tor, Ex­ec­u­tive Di­rec­tor of the Florida Depart­ment of Eco­nomic Op­por­tu­nity. “We ap­plaud your in­no­va­tive part­ner­ship with the Ur­ban League of Broward County as a part of this pro­gram and we look for­ward to the op­por­tu­ni­ties this fund­ing will bring to fam­i­lies in South Florida.”
