Local students named to dean’s list at Salisbury University

Molly McGowan of Charlotte Hall was named to the dean’s list at Bard College at Simon’s Rock for the fall 2015 semester. To be eligible for this honor, a student must carry 14 or more credits and achieve a grade point average of 3.5.
McGowan completed 10th grade at Chopticon High School before leaving to begin college early.
Katherine E. Hayes, daughter of Robert and Mary Hayes of Smithfield, Va., and granddaughter of Harold and Imogene Hayes of LaPlata, was named to the dean’s list at University of Virginia for the fall 2015 semester.
Hayes is a second-year student at UVA studying foreign affairs and spanish.
Joshua Motsenbocker of Waldorf graduated from Troy University during term three of the 2015-2016 academic year.
Motsenbocker graduated with the bachelor of science degree from the College of Arts and Sciences.
Oluwatobi Ogunniyi of Waldorf has received the Most Valuable Player Award for the Randolph-Macon Academy junior varsity basketball team. The award is in recognition of his outstanding performance during the 2015-2016 winter sports season.
Ogunniyi is the son of Ms. Bridget Emordi of Waldorf and Mr. O Jimmy Ogunniyi of Laurel. He is a sophomore at Randolph-Macon Academy.
The Frostburg State University Brass Ensemble, under the direction of Kevin McManus, will present its spring concert on Friday, April 22, at 7:30 p.m. in the Pealer Recital Hall of FSU’s Performing Arts Center. This event is free and open to the public.
Selections will include “The Calling” by David W. Moore, “Galliard Battaglia” by Samuel Scheidt, “Three Pieces” by Johann Pezel, “What a Friend We Have” by Charles C. Converse and “Gonna Build a Mountain” by Anthony Newley and Leslie Bricusse.
The recital will also feature the following FSU brass students performing solo works: Alexandria Blank and Jeremy Johnson on trumpets, Ashlee Gojeski on the French horn, Deandre Cook on the trombone, Maame Agyekum on the bass trombone, Ayauna Andrews on euphonium and Jeb Cliber on the tuba.
