Pedestrian struck by vehicle

On April 29 at 9:17 p.m., officers responded to the area of Smallwood Drive West — just north of St. Patrick’s Drive — for a pedestrian who had been struck by a vehicle.

Investigat­ion showed the pedestrian, a 25-year-old male wearing dark clothing, was crossing Smallwood Drive West when he was hit.

The driver of the vehicle, 35, remained on the scene. The pedestrian was transporte­d to a hospital with injuries that do not appear to be life-threatenin­g. Sgt. J. Burroughs of the Traffic Operations Unit is investigat­ing.

Man attacked, robbed in La Plata

On April 26 at 10:45 p.m., officers re- sponded to the area of Starkey Court and Wesley Drive in La Plata for the report of an assault.

Upon arrival, officers found a man lying on the ground with several wounds. The victim was transporte­d to a hospital where he was admitted with serious injuries. Investigat­ion showed the victim got lost and turned into a senior center. He saw a man standing in the parking lot and asked for directions. The man suddenly opened the victim’s car door and pulled the man out.

Two other suspects approached and struck the man with an object. They stole the victim’s wallet and cell phone and then fled.

The descriptio­ns of the suspects are vague. Charles County Crime Solvers is offering a cash reward of up to $1,000 for the tip that leads to the arrest of the suspects. Man arrested, drugs seized in search warrant

On April 29, members of the Narcotics Enforcemen­t Section executed a search warrant in the 2700 block of Adelphi Lane in Bryans Road in response to multiple complaints of possible drug dealing at the house. Officers located a semi-automatic handgun that had been reported stolen through South Carolina. They also discovered 85 grams of marijuana, a digital scale, and other evidence. Cameron James Taylor, 23, of Bryans Road was arrested and charged with possession of a stolen firearm and possession of illegal drugs with the intent to distribute. The Narcotics Enforcemen­t Section is continuing its investigat­ion.
