Man shot on Friday night
Incident may be drug related
A man was flown to the hospital on Friday night with severe injuries after he was shot in the neck in Waldorf, according to authorities.
After being shot, the 29-year-old victim drove himself about two miles to a gas station on Berry Road to seek help.
Around 9:11 p.m., Charles County Sheriff’s Office deputies were dispatched to the BP gas station located at 10195 Berry Road. The shooting occurred shortly before in the 2200 block of Bridle Path Drive, according to police. The motive remains unclear, police say, but investigators believe the incident may be drug related.
The victim’s injuries ap- pear not to be life threatening, according to authorities.
The gas station’s manager, Patty Rebasco, was not there when the wounded man showed up, but she arrived shortly after he had been transported to the hospital and spoke with her employees about the incident.
According to Rebasco, the man came into the store bleeding heavily onto the floor from his neck and told an employee that he had been shot and to call 911.
Paramedics responded soon after and began treating the man, who appeared to be losing consciousness by the time they arrived, she said.
Police are not releasing any additional information on the incident at this time. The investigation continues.
