Clarks celebrate 50 years
James A. Clark and Annie Cecelia Smothers-Clark will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary Friday, April 1. The Waldorf couple was married April 1, 1967 at Holy Ghost Catholic Church in Issue. The pair met in first grade at Wayside Elementary (presently Dr. Thomas L. Higdon Elementary and Piccowaxen Middle School) and graduated from Bel Alton High School in 1964.
They are the proud parents of three children; Jamie C. Nelson (Darryl), Sterling A. “Tony,” and Felisha M. Clark-Bonilla (David); seven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
James retired from the Charles County Board of Education after 40 years and Cecelia retired from the Naval Surface Warfare Center, Indian Head after 35 years. Both are members of Our Lady Help of Christians Catholic Church in Waldorf.
