Police say a man was shot and killed inside a Waldorf apartment Tuesday night after at least three suspects forced their way through the door. Six suspects were arrested and charged with first-degree murder on Wednesday.

Samuel Keith Gemeny, 35, of Waldorf was shot multiple times in his upper body around 8:24 p.m. on Tuesday before the suspects fled the apartment, located in the 3400 block of Promenade Place, in an unknown vehicle, according to court records and a Charles County Sheriff’s Office spokesperson. Gemeny was pronounced dead at the scene.

Dominic Xavier Daniel, 24, the alleged gunman; Dominique Ariel Grant, 28; Andrew Loren Webb, 24; Morgan Tyrone Rich Jr., 27; Jared Jacob Hayes, 31, all of Waldorf, and Gabrielle Marie Ditella, 19,

of Costesville, Pa., were arrested for murder, home invasion, robbery and other charges.

Detectives believe that two men, Daniel and another unnamed man, and a

woman, Grant, forced their way into the apartment after knocking on the door of the apartment, according to court records and police. Once inside, they reportedly confronted Gemeny about property and money owed to them. During the argument, Gemeny struck Daniel over the head with an iPad.

Daniel then turned toward Gemeny and allegedly shot him at least one time before fleeing the building.

Police have since determined that the suspects, who drove to the apartment building in two separate cars, had been together before the shooting, discussing the money and property Gemeny owed

Daniel and another suspect, and reportedly conspired to commit a home

invasion, charging documents state.

All six defendants were arrested Wednesday, and remain in custody.
