The Trial Courts Judicial Nominating Commission for Commission District 15 met on Thursday, June 29, 2017, to consider the candidates for the vacancy on the Circuit Court for Charles County, which became effective May 11, 2017, due to the mandatory retirement of the Honorable Thomas R. Simpson Jr.
After conducting extensive interviews and reviewing all available information about the candidates, the Commission took a secret written ballot. Having received the required number of votes, the following individuals were found to be legally and most fully qualified for appointment to the Circuit Court for Charles County: Monise Alexis Brown, Donine Marie Carrington and Makeba Gibbs.
The aforegoing nominations are submitted pursuant to your Executive Order of Feb. 2, 2015.
In addition, pursuant to paragraph D(2) of your Executive Order, the following individuals having been previously nominated by the Commission as legally and fully qualified for appointment to the current vacancy on that court are also before you for your consideration: Patrick Joseph Devine and Mistey Lynn Metzgar.
In accordance with Rule 16-810 (b), questions regarding sitting judges who have applied for court vacancies, either new applicants or pool applicants, should be direct to the Commission on Judicial Disabilities.
