A 24-year-old La Plata woman was arrested for armed robbery after she and another man allegedly robbed a man in an Indian Head motel room in November.

On Nov. 28, Kathryn Ashley Farmer was charged with armed robbery, robbery, second-degree assault and theft.

On Nov. 14, Charles County Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to the Super 8 Motel in Indian Head for the report of an armed robbery. Officers made contact with the victim when arriving on scene. The victim said that he was in his motel room when he heard a knock at his door. When he opened the door, a female with whom he was familiar was standing in the doorway. He said that just as the female entered the room, a black male appeared from the side and also entered the room, according to court records.

The victim told police that once inside, the male suspect shoved him in the bathroom and told him not to move. He said that the male was holding his right hand in his waist band as though he had a weapon. The victim said that he thought the male had a gun or a knife.

The male stood in front of the bathroom, blocking the victim from exiting, while the female searched the room and inside dresser drawers, the victim told police. He said that after searching, both the female and the male left the room and he was told not to come out of the bathroom, according to court records.

The victim told police that he stayed in the bathroom for a short time before calling 911.

The two suspects left the motel room with the victim’s cash, totaling $279, his ID, two debit cards, his wallet and his cell phone, per court records. The victim also sustained bruising to the shoulder area of his body.

He told police that he did not know the name of the female, but he knew of her from riding VanGO.

After police viewed the surveillance camera of the motel, they were able to identify Farmer as the female who allegedly exited the victim’s room with a phone and wallet in her hand, according to court records.

On Nov. 28, after receiving a search warrant, officers went to another Indian Head motel where Farmer was staying and searched her room, per court records. Officers found the victim’s two debit cards inside a duffle bag.

According to court records, Farmer was transported to the sheriff’s office to be questioned, where she then allegedly admitted to being the female who went inside the victim’s motel room and took his belongings on Nov. 14.
