Maryland Environmental Service announces award nominations due by June 26
The Maryland Environmental Service (MES) is introducing the Environmental Business Leadership Awards, according to a press release. Award winners will be announced at the inaugural 2018 Environmental Business Leadership Conference on July 19 at The Westin Hotel Annapolis.
The awards will highlight individuals and corporate citizens who are providing exceptional support to the environment and ultimately the people of Maryland. There are different categories for public and private sector individuals, and environmental excellence awards in sustainability, environmental restoration and solid waste management. It is free to nominate an individual or business for any and all of the awards, the release states.
Awards include: Environmental Business Leader (private sector), Environmental Business Leader (public sector), Environmental Excellence (sustainability), Environmental Excellence (solid waste management and recycling), Environmental Excellence (dredging and environmental restoration), Meritorious Service Award (lifetime achievement) and Rising Environmental Star.
The following criteria must be met for a person or project to be nominated, according to the release:
• Person or project leadership must impact the environmental community and/or industry;
• Specific person or project involvement must result in environmental excellence in the areas of sustainability, environmental restoration, and solid waste management for Maryland;
• Accomplishments should reflect the mission of MES — to provide operational and technical services to protect and enhance the environment for the benefit of the people of Maryland; • Only online nominations will be accepted; and • All submissions are due online no later than 5 p.m. on June 26.
