Maryland Environmen­tal Service announces award nomination­s due by June 26

The Maryland Environmen­tal Service (MES) is introducin­g the Environmen­tal Business Leadership Awards, according to a press release. Award winners will be announced at the inaugural 2018 Environmen­tal Business Leadership Conference on July 19 at The Westin Hotel Annapolis.

The awards will highlight individual­s and corporate citizens who are providing exceptiona­l support to the environmen­t and ultimately the people of Maryland. There are different categories for public and private sector individual­s, and environmen­tal excellence awards in sustainabi­lity, environmen­tal restoratio­n and solid waste management. It is free to nominate an individual or business for any and all of the awards, the release states.

Awards include: Environmen­tal Business Leader (private sector), Environmen­tal Business Leader (public sector), Environmen­tal Excellence (sustainabi­lity), Environmen­tal Excellence (solid waste management and recycling), Environmen­tal Excellence (dredging and environmen­tal restoratio­n), Meritoriou­s Service Award (lifetime achievemen­t) and Rising Environmen­tal Star.

The following criteria must be met for a person or project to be nominated, according to the release:

• Person or project leadership must impact the environmen­tal community and/or industry;

• Specific person or project involvemen­t must result in environmen­tal excellence in the areas of sustainabi­lity, environmen­tal restoratio­n, and solid waste management for Maryland;

• Accomplish­ments should reflect the mission of MES — to provide operationa­l and technical services to protect and enhance the environmen­t for the benefit of the people of Maryland; • Only online nomination­s will be accepted; and • All submission­s are due online no later than 5 p.m. on June 26.
