Peggie Kissinger Jerkins

Peggie Kissinger Jerkins, 92, of Port Tobacco, MD, died on June 20, 2018 at the Charles County Hospice House in Waldorf, MD.

Born on June 30, 1925 in Tampa, FL, she was the daughter of the late Mary Helice Wentzel Kissinger and Stephen Kissinger. Mrs. Jerkins was a homemaker and mom.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, The Reverend Percy A. Jerkins; and son-in-law, Tom Hamorsky.

She is survived by her daughter, Pam Hamorsky; grandsons and granddaugh­ter-in-law, Kyle and Kr ystal Hamorsky; Brett Hamorsky; great grandchild­ren: Mylan and Zofie Hamorsky.

Interment will be at Roselawn Cemetery, Lakeland, FL, at a later date.

Col. Raymond Edward Greene

Col. Raymond “Ray” Edward Greene, USAF (Ret.), 76, of La Plata, MD, died June 24, 2018.

Ray was born in Jamaica, Long Island, New York. He graduated from Frank Carey High School in Franklin Square, New York, and then graduated from Tusculum College in Tennessee.

After college, he entered the United States Air Force and served his country until his retirement at the rank of Colonel on Sept. 18, 1992 He served in the Vietnam conflict from 1970 to 1973, flying over 270+ missions as an Electronic Warfare Officer in the F-105 Wild Weasel. He continued his career as a United Nations Attache assigned in Syria and Israel, Systems Command Officer, Intelligen­ce, Program Engineer, completing his service as Intelligen­ce Director on the J Staff in the Pentagon. After retirement, he worked in the jewelry business which he thoroughly enjoyed.

Ray loved painting, country western music (especially Willie Nelson and the Boys), and gardening. He also enjoyed outer space themed movies. He was the son of Frank and Florence Greene. He is survived by his wife, Katherine Greene; his son, Jeffrey Greene; his step son, Steven Sloat (Courtney); his daughter, Barbara Greene; his step daughter, Lisa Martin (Marty); his sisters: Barbara Sutton (Ed); Eleanor Maurer (Bob); and his grandchild­ren: Bree, Ally, Leia, and Matthew.

Friends received on Saturday, June 30, from 10 a.m. until Mass time at 11 a.m. at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, 4590 St. Joseph Way, Pomfret, MD 20675. Interment at a later date in Arlington National Cemetery.

Brison Norris Hungerford

Brison Norris Hungerford, 85, passed away peacefully at his home in Newburg, MD on Monday, June 11, 2018. He was preceded in death by his father, Robert Adelbert Hungerford Sr.; mother, Julia Dent Hungerford; and brothers: John Dent Hungerford Sr., Robert Adelbert Hungerford Jr., and Esten Whitney Hungerford.

He is survived by brothers: Vincent C. Hungerford; David G. Hungerford; sisters: Julia Tall; Catherine Jenkins; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

He served in the United States Army from 1953 to 1955, and was a graduate of Mount St. Mary’s College in Emmitsburg, MD. He was the owner/operator of a convenienc­e & liquor store business in Bryans Road, MD, for many years and was also a charter member of the Bryans Road Volunteer Fire Department & Rescue Squad, and served on the Board of Directors of Physicians Memorial Hospital (now Charles Regional Hospital) in La Plata, MD for over 10 years.

A memorial service is being planned for family and friends, to be held at the Bryans Road VFD banquet hall facility on July 22, from 2 to 6 p.m.

Joseph Thomas Dixon, “Joe” of Clinton, MD, born July 17, 1932, died on June 14, 2018, at the age of 85. Born in Washington, DC, one of three sons to Mary Anna Hruska Dixon and James Edward Dixon.

Beloved husband for 62 years of Anita C. Dixon; devoted father of Joseph R. Dixon, of Clinton, MD; Doreen L. Dixon Bell (John W. Bell), of Shady Side, MD; Suzanne K. Tutwiler (Tony Tutwiler), of Cary, NC; Denise A. Bong (Russell Bong), of Hamilton, VA; dear brother of Fr. James Isadore Dixon and Bernard Leo Dixon; loving grandfathe­r of Ashley Nicole Dixon, of Texas; John W. Bell V, of Annapolis, MD; Gina Anita Bell, of Shady Side, MD; Tiffany Nicole Tutwiler, of Cary, NC: Christophe­r Joseph Tutwiler of Cary, NC; Anthony Thomas Tutwiler, of Cary, NC; and Max Dixon Bong, of Hamilton, VA.

Burial with military honors will take place at the Maryland Veterans Cemetery, Cheltenham, MD.
