Indian Head Town Council planning ‘family enrichment center’
Strauss Avenue will get speed humps by end of the month
The Indian Head Town Council discussed at its Wednesday work session plans to develop a Family Enrichment Center.
Councilman Curtis Smith stated that the council should have a deep desire to hear what the citizens of Indian Head want, and the development and use of a Family Enrichment Center would prove the council’s efforts.
The purpose of the Family Enrichment Center is to provide financial and family success to the 4,000 residents of Indian Head.
A partnership with the United Way of Charles County board of directors is underway to assist with the implementation of this program; however, there is no commitment on either side at this time. A location for the center has not been established.
The council has decided to come to a closing decision by Nov. 5.
Recovery Month
September was declared Recovery Month for the Town of Indian Head by Mayor Brandon Paulin, Vice-Mayor Ron Sitoula and Councilman Curtis Smith.
Recovery Month will be a time dedicated to showing compassion and support to those dealing with alcohol and substance misuse. The council’s purpose in implementing Recovery Month is to help lead those recovering to a passage of well-being, surrounded by an encouraging community.
The state of Maryland, the federal Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration and the White House Office of National Drug Control Policy invite all Marylanders to participate in hopes that more people achieve and sustain long-term recovery.
The theme of Recovery Month is “Join the voices for Recovery: Invest in Health, Home, Purpose, and Community” and will begin September 2019 in Indian Head.
