Marbury Baptist to host choral ensemble

will host LYRA choral ensemble at 7 p.m., Oct. 5, at the church, 4670 Bicknell Road, Marbury. LYRA, an a cappella choral ensemble of musicians from St. Petersburg, Russia, will perform songs custom to Russian Orthodox churches, as well as traditiona­l Russian folk music. Churches offer ‘Blessing of Pets’

On Sunday, Oct. 7, at 2 p.m., (112 Charles Street) will offer a festive Blessing of Pets and an Ice Cream Social. The event, held in celebratio­n of the feast day of St. Francis of Assisi, will entail a short prayer service and individual blessing of all pets. Fellowship and games will follow with ice cream sundaes offered. Feast of Our Lady of the Rosary on Oct. 7

Our Lady Help of Christians Catholic Church, 100 Village Street in Waldorf, will celebrate the Feast of Our Lady of the Rosary on Sunday, Oct. 7. The Internatio­nal Pilgrim Virgin Statue of Fatima will arrive at 8 a.m. Hourly recitation­s of the rosary will begin at 1 p.m. Auxiliary Bishop of Washington Mario E. Dorsonvill­e will arrive at 5 p.m., with a living rosary at 5:30 p.m. A bilingual Mass (English/Spanish) is at 7 p.m. followed by a reception. An all-night prayer vigil will be held, ending on Monday morning.
