The Tri-County Council for Southern Maryland is holding a full council meeting — cash bar at 6 p.m., a 6:30 p.m. dinner and 7 p.m. business meeting — at the Greater Waldorf Jaycees Community Center, 3090 Crain Highway, Waldorf. The cost of the dinner is $25. The keynote speaker will be Benjamin Grumbles, Maryland’s secretary of the environment. The Charles County Branch of the NAACP is hosting a State Senator and Delegate Candidate Forum from 7 to 9 p.m. at the Historic Willing Helpers Society, 1000 Washington Ave., La Plata. Alliance for Rapid Transit (SMART) will host a “Rally for Light Rail: Putting Maryland’s Transportation Priorities Back On Track” from 6:30-8:30 p.m. at the Hilton Garden Inn Waldorf, 10385 O’Donnell Place (next to the Waldorf West Librar y).
