A Waldorf nurse and her daughter allegedly stole thousands of dollars from an 88-year-old man when he was under her care.

Kimberly Rochelle Porter, 43, and her 20-year-old daughter, Mya Porter, were charged with several credit card thefts.

The police were notified of the alleged thefts by the victim’s daughter, who said her father suffers from dementia and receives care from Right At Home, a Washington-based company that provides in-home care to seniors. The nurse assistants typically help seniors with transportation from and to doctor’s appointments, trips to grocery stores and other services.

On May 18, the victim was reportedly assigned Porter, who was identified in the charging documents as a certified nursing assistant. When paying for lunch for both at a Prince Frederick restaurant, the victim reportedly asked Porter to pay for the meal using his credit card when he went to use the bathroom.

About a month later, the victim received a bank statement, detailing 50 purchases totaling $1,990.13 from May 22 to June 19. The credit card was used to pay for food from grocery stores and restaurants, insurance, utilities, Lyft rides and items from Amazon and Apple stores, ranging from $1 to $300, according to charging documents.

Police said transaction details showed Kimberly and Mya Porter had been using the man’s credit card for unauthorized purchases.
