Davon Jermain Boyd, 21, and Travaughn Delonte Johnson, 24, both of Washington, D.C., have each been charged with second-degree burglary, two counts of theft of $1,500 to under $25,000 and one count of theft of $25,000 to under $100,000 for allegedly stealing three cars on Crain Highway.

On Friday, a 2016 Infiniti QX80 SUV, valued at $40,000 and belonging to a victim from Bethesda, a black Ford Focus, valued at $9,000 and belonging to a victim of Jurel Court in Waldorf, and a silver Honda Accord, valued at $14,000 and belonging to a victim of Garibaldi Place in Waldorf, were all reported stolen.

The Infiniti was under surveillance by Charles County Sheriff’s Office Deputy Weaver who was able to locate the three cars traveling to Southern Maryland Pawnbrokers, where they were parked in front of the building.

Several subjects were seen leaving the vehicles and Weaver witnessed them walk to a front window of the building and breaking the glass. As Weaver and other detectives approached, the subjects entered the cars and attempted to flee.

Allegedly, Johnson was operating the Infiniti when he struck a police car head on and proceeded to back up, rammed it again and attempted to flee. Boyd was in the Ford, attempting to flee but was blocked in by patrol cars. Boyd struck several police cars before becoming disabled and fled from the vehicle on foot.

Boyd was apprehended a short distance away, and Johnson was later identified as allegedly stating the group’s objective was to steal whatever they could.

The owners of the Ford and Honda were contacted and stated no one had permission to take their vehicles.

Bond was set on Monday for Johnson at $25,000 and for Boyd at $5,000. As of Monday, both were still being held. Preliminary hearings were set for the two men on Nov. 28 and Nov. 27, respectively.
