Bryans Road man charged with murder

Janeal Jerome Thompson, 26, of Bryans Road has been charged with first-degree murder and first- and second-degree assault.

Charles County Sheriff’s Office detectives initiated an investigat­ion into a possible missing person on Nov. 2. Family members of Ronaj Henderson, 22, of Bryans Road last saw him early in the morning on Oct. 27.

During the investigat­ion, detectives learned the victim had been shot in the area of Bryans Road by a person known to him and his body was left somewhere in western Charles County. Investigat­ion led detectives to the Riverside Road and Smith Point Road area in Nanjemoy.

Henderson’s body was found in a wooded area on Nov. 4. Based on additional informatio­n, detectives identified the suspect as Thompson. Thompson was located in Arlington, Va., on Nov. 4 and was subsequent­ly extradited to the Charles County Detention Center on Nov. 7 where he was charged with first-degree murder and other related charges.

Thompson is scheduled for preliminar­y hearing on Dec. 4 at 8:45 am in Courtroom 1 at the District Court of Maryland for Charles County.
