Good Counsel 17, St. Mary’s Ryken 14
The Knights gave Washington Catholic Athletic Conference foe Good Counsel all it could handle on Friday evening in Montgomery County.
St. Mary’s Ryken (3-3 overall) got two touchdowns in the first half from Will Johnson, one on a 9-yard pass from quarterback Trevor Nored and another on a 73-yard fumble return on defense. The Knights led 7-3 at the end of the first quarter and 14-10 at the intermission, but the Falcons scored the game’s only touchdown in the second half and held on for the victor y.
Nored completed 9 of 28 passes for 151 yards and one touchdown, Johnson had four catches for 62 yards and one touchdown and Dez Williams had a 75yard reception. Running back Jamaree Bowman carried 13 times for 45 yards.
“It was a defensive battle,” St. Mary’s Ryken head coach Aaron Brady said. “Our kids battled the number 21 team in the country and had the chance to knock them off. I am so proud of these young men and the effort they gave against a very talented team.”
