Rotary club awards local scholarships
The Lexington Park Rotary Chapter recently recognized St. Mary’s County high school students with 2021 scholarship awards.
Sophie Anderson, a Leonardtown High School graduate, received the Rotary of Lexington Park Scholarship Award. She is majoring in nursing at Liberty University and her career goal is to be an orthodontics prosthetics specialist.
Chopticon High School graduate Reagan Angle was a recipient of one of the Lexington Park Rotary Chapter Multiple Scholarships. Angle is majoring in biology at Salisbury State University with a career goal of becoming a genetic counselor.
Leonardtown High School graduate Ella Brown, who plans to attend Boston University and major in biology and pursue a career in radiology, was awarded the Mike Marley Service Scholarship.
Great Mills High School graduate Andrea Datam received the Powell Public Service Career Scholarship. Datam will attend the University of Maryland College Park and plans to major in public health and pursue a career as a global health researcher.
Abby Higgs was a recipient of the Lexington Park Rotary Chapter Award. The Chopticon High School graduate is majoring in nursing at Flagler College.
Leonardtown High School graduate Kaylee Howe was the winner of the Robert and Rita Merritts Vocational Scholarship and a Lexington Park Rotary Chapter multiple scholarship. She is attending the College of Southern Maryland and plans to continue her education leading up to a bachelors of science in nursing.
Olivia Mesmer was the recipient of one of Lexington Park Rotary Chapter’s Multiple Scholarships. The Great Mills graduate is attending Ave Maria University and majoring in psychology.
Minh Hai Nguyen, who graduated from Great Mills High School, received the Greg Clarke Aviation-Military Scholarship. Nguyen is studying aeronautical engineering at the University of Maryland at College Park.

School graduate
George Rivers who is attending Virginia State
University and majoring in civil engineering.
Leonardtown High School graduate Liam Smith also received one of the Multiple Scholarships. Smith is attending the University of Maryland College Park and majoring in engineering.
Chopticon High School graduate Jacquelin Tippett, who is studying to be a counselor at Salisbury University, also earned a Multiple Scholarship.
