Omega Pi answers call
Omega Pi Omega Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc., along with thousands of other sorority members, private donors and corporate matches, helped raise more than $ 2 million dollars for Historically Black Colleges and Universities on Sept. 20.
In addition, several members of Omega Pi Omega suppor ted pop- up health events at Morgan State University and Howard University, included COVID- 19 testing and vaccinations, flu vaccinations and the Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc.’ s mobile mammography unit, which provides free mammograms in underser ved communities.
In October, Omega Pi Omega Chapter members hosted a breast cancer program for Breast Cancer Awareness Month titled Debunking the Myths of Breast Cancer and featured guest speaker Joan Smith, a nurse practitioner.
Attendees also received instruction on the proper technique for breast examinations.
Eugene “Duke” Jones also shared his journey from diagnosis to sur vival.
In mid-October, the Omega Pi Omega Chapter hosted its fourth annual 5K Walk/Run, which raised more than $1,000 for scholarships and programming.

ter members held their College Assistance Process kick- of f, also known as # CAP. The Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc.’ s signature program is a college preparation program specifically designed to assist high school juniors and seniors with navigating the college admissions process.
Eighteen students from Northern, Calvert and Patuxent high schools were accepted into this year’s program.
Omega Pi Omega Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. has been ser ving Calver t County since 2017 and is led by Chapter President Pamelia K. Moore.
