Mrs. Constance Virginia Ward (Sowersby) “Connie”

MECHANICSVILLE — In Loving Memory of Constance Virginia ( King) Ward, Age 95 of Mechanicsville, MD

Connie was born in Fall River, Massachusetts on July 2, 1926 and passed away peacefully at home on January 1, 2022 with her children Sean King and Cindy Smith in attendance.

Connie was predeceased by her parents, George Sowersby and Kathleen Sowersby; her husband, Leo J. Ward; and Brother, Donald Sowersby. Connie is survived by all her children: Sons Jeremiah P. and George S. King, and Daughter Cindy L. ( King) Smith; Grandchildren Katrina Ellis, Ronnie Smith, Heather King, Jennifer King, Kristin Weber, and Ryan King; Great Grandchildren Kamdyn Ellis, Trevyn Ellis, Domenic Smith, Burke Weber, Taylor King, Finley King, and Quinn King,

Connie was always active and lived a FULL and Wonderful life. She loved summer sun, water activities, golf and pickle ball. She was active in the Wicomico Shores Yacht and Country Club, serving as Secretary of the Yacht Club in the early 1970’s. She was a 12year member of the Chi Sigma Sorority- Zea Chapter and served as National Treasurer, as well as Vice President and Treasurer of the Resident Local in the late 1970s and 1980. Connie loved to perform and was always happiest on stage. Connie was very active in many theatrical and choral companies in Florida as a dancer, singer, producer and director for the Del Tura Dance and Choral Group, the Tampa Bay Golf and Tennis Club Performing Arts Group, The Villages Way Way Way Off Broadway, the Starlite Players, the Betty Gantz Follies, the Villages Musical Theater, the Villages Theater Group, and Music in Motion. Connie was also a member of the Lynn Haven Ladies Club in the Villages.

There will be no viewing and a private internment ceremony will be held at Arlington National Cemetery at a later date.
