Legion accepting Boys State applications
The American Legion Boys State Program is accepting applications through May 1. The fully funded program, which is among the most respected and selective educational programs of government instruction for high school students in the country, is seeking high school juniors to expose them to the United States form of government. Southern Maryland District Six is especially looking for juniors in St. Mary’s, Calvert, Charles and Southern Prince George’s counties. Youth playwrights wanted
Twin Beach Players is accepting submissions for its 17th Annual Kid’s Playwriting Festival April 15. Old Dominion tickets go on sale
Calvert Marine museum will sell tickets Friday, April 8, for its Old Dominion concert, which will take place Friday, June 10. The band is the reigning CMA and ACM “Group of the Year” and recently won its fifth consecutive “Group of the Year” award at the 2022

Easter egg hunt scheduled
The 39th Annual Easter Egg Festival will be held 11:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, April 9, at the St. Mary’s County Fairgrounds, 42455 Fairgrounds Road in Leonardtown. The event is rain or shine. Visits with the Easter Bunny, live entertainment, arts and crafts and face painting. Egg hunt is for ages 12 and younger. Admission is $5. First Landing festival planned

Contra dance scheduled

Tax assistance offered
Volunteer Income Tax Assistance will be available 9:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Thursday, April 14, at the Calvert Library in Prince Frederick Branch. VITA provides free federal and state tax preparation services for households whose total household income is $57,000 or less. Services are provided by IRS-certified tax preparers and for Charles, St Mary’s and Calvert County residents and only for Federal and Maryland State tax returns.
