• A Bird City Maryland Campus Walk and Talk will be held 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, May 4, at the La Plata Campus. In honor of Migratory Bird Day, learn what CSM did in order to become the first Bird City Campus in Maryland, learn about bluebirds and check the bluebird boxes, check out the native plant gardens and discuss light pollution and migratory birds for World Migratory Bird Day. • The 12th annual Nonprofit Institute Conference will be held virtually 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Thursday, May 5. The theme is “What’s Next: Strategy and Adaptability” and will focus on pandemic recovery, strategic planning, collaboration and innovative thinking. The keynote speaker is United Way of Southern Maryland CEO Mel Brennan. Tickets are $65.

• A Code Green Energy Saving Initiative will be held 1:30 to 5 p.m. Friday, May 27, at the three campuses. The program is designed to shrink the college’s carbon footprint during the hot months of summer by reducing building and infrastructure usage. Most buildings and services will close 1:30 p.m. and remain closed throughout the weekend. Limited Services may be available after 1:30 p.m. Thre program does not affect Kids’ and Teen College programs, the Velocity Center, Center for Trades and Energy Training, Center for Transportation Training, Public Safety, the necessary service units and other approved events.
