Brunswick Cor­po­ra­tion, which owns brands such as Bos­ton Whaler and Mer­cury, has launched the Nautic-ON smart-boat­ing plat­form. A hub and wire­less sen­sors com­mu­ni­cate with a smart-de­vice app that ad­vises boat own­ers of their ves­sel’s lo­ca­tion and the sta­tus of its vi­tal sys­tems, such as bat­tery lev­els, bilge-pump ac­ti­va­tion, oil life and en­gine hours. Boaters can eas­ily share that sta­tus with their ser­vice provider. The sys­tem is de­signed for any boat equipped with a bat­tery, and is NMEA 2000 com­pat­i­ble. Hard­ware prices range from $600 to $1,470; sub­scrip­tions cost $99 per sea­son or $149 per year.
