- Claudette Riley

Jack Stack, president and CEO of SRC Holdings Corporation, has agreed to serve as interim dean of Drury University's Breech School of Business Administration.

Stack is author of “The Great Game of Business,” “A Stake in the Outcome” and “Change the Game.” He will start Jan. 1 and serve for six months while a permanent dean is hired to begin in fall 2024.

“This is an opportunity for us to better understand the relationship between learning, decision-making and outcomes,” Stack said in a Thursday news release.

“We are always looking for the possibilities of finding learning opportunities in uncertain environments. We believe there is a treasure chest of these opportunities in Drury, and we want to learn more about them.”

Stack will continue his role as president and CEO of SRC. He will work closely with the school's former dean, Jeff Zimmerman, who will teach and assist with the school's reaccreditation process for the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business.

“Drury and the Breech School of Business has had a 150-year commitment of service to Springfield and the greater Ozarks region,” said Drury President John Beuerlein, in the release.

“Jack Stack will challenge us to think more strategically about the many opportunities we have to prepare our students to expand our community impact.”

Stack served on Drury's Board of Trustees from 2004 to 2013 and is part of the search committee for the next Drury president.

A graduate of Elmhurst College, he came to SRC in 1979 as the plant manager of International Harvester.

In 1983, Stack and the SRC employees bought the company from IH and have turned it into what Inc. magazine has proclaimed “one of America's most competitive small companies.”

“We take great pride in welcoming Jack Stack as the interim dean of our business school,” said Rita Baron, chair of the Drury Board of Trustees.

“A distinguished member of our community, he not only brings a wealth of professional experience but also a deep understanding of our local ethos. As a true pioneer, Jack is poised to lead our business school into a future of unprecedented success, setting the standard for excellence and inspiring the next generation of leaders from within our very own community.”
