Crumbl delays Springfield opening; coffee shop comes to the Fairbanks
This week in 417-area food news: An opening update for two cookie shops, a new northside spot for coffee and the closure of an Italian restaurant known for its 'za.
Crumbl opening pushed back once again; plans for second location
Those waiting for Crumbl Cookies may have to be patient a little longer, but the payoff will be twice as sweet. The Crumbl Cookies location on Glenstone Avenue is set to open later this spring or early summer, according to Becca Bevan, a Crumbl spokeswoman.
A second Crumbl Cookies store is set to open in early to mid summer at 1979 E. Independence St. in James River Town Center.
Both of those locations' opening times are subject to change, Bevan said, depending on construction times and supply chain issues.
Coffee shop to open in The Fairbanks
A new coffee shop is set to open in The Fairbanks, 1126 N. Broadway Ave.: Hidden Grounds. The soft opening is set for March 4. Hidden Grounds will be open 7 a.m. to 2 p.m. Monday through Friday.
The shop's menu features "affordable local flavors." According to the shop's website, it aims to "provide a unique space tailored for the North Springfield community with a special focus on outreach, networking, partnership and more."
Crumbl is opening two locations in Springfield: One at 1979 E. Independence St. and one at 2411 N. Glenstone Ave.
Archie's Italian Eatery closes
Archie's Italian Eatery, the sole place in Springfield to get "Chicago-style" deep dish pizza, closed Feb. 17, according to a Facebook post. Archie Donoho opened the restaurant in 2019.
Customers commented on the post in confusion, with many saying they had plans to visit in the future. The restaurant has not responded to a request for comment.
