Forever Home, 8 PM on HGTV; 3 AM on HGTV: An open-hearted Las Vegas couple is following their long-cherished dream of turning their residence into a foster home in the new episode “Do It for the Kids.” This passion project inspires Drew and Jonathan to rework the main floor, which would give the home a safety update. Just as important, it’s part of the overall design plan to provide a warm vibe for future kids in years to come.

NOVA, 9 PM on Ch. 16 and Ch. 48; 1 AM on Ch. 16 and Ch. 48: In addition to being beautiful, coral reefs also are home to more than a quarter of all marine life, which makes them crucial to human societies around the globe as well. The new episode “Reef Rescue” examines how marine biologists are teaming up from around the world to counteract the catastroph­ic damage climate change is wreaking on these reefs due to warming ocean waters. Using a technique called assisted evolution, these scientists are trying to crossbreed heat-resistant corals and even transplant algae from healthy corals.
