Movie: A Simple Favor, 8 PM on LIF; 12:01 AM on LIF: Anna Kendrick and Blake Lively head the beguiling cast of director Paul Feig’s (“Bridesmaids”) well-received 2018 black comedy about a widowed single mom and vlogger (Kendrick) from a small town who gets drawn into a baffling mystery after her wealthy and enigmatic best friend (Lively) seems to vanish without a trace. Henry Golding (“Crazy Rich Asians”), Linda Cardellini (“Bloodline”), Andrew Rannells (“Girls”), Jean Smart and Rupert Friend co-star.
Movie: Deceitful Dating, 8 PM on LIFEMOV; 12:01 AM on LIFEMOV: Struggling to raise two daughters, a widower is starting to feel completely overwhelmed until he receives some much-needed help from Alice, a beautiful but mysterious new neighbor. However, when Alice’s exhusband suddenly turns up dead, everyone starts to wonder if she’s as sweet as it seems, or what her endgame may be in her acts of “kindness.” Derek Hamilton and Christine Chatelain star in this 2021 thriller.
Great Performances, 9 PM on Ch. 48; 1 AM on Ch. 16 and Ch. 48: Two of Britain’s fastest-rising young stars — Josh O’connor (Prince Charles in “The Crown”) and Jessie Buckley (HBO’S “Chernobyl”) — play starcrossed lovers “Romeo and Juliet” in this stylized film of Simon Godwin’s National Theatre staging of Shakespeare’s timeless classic. This contemporary rendering of the play celebrates the power of theatrical imagination, moving from a no-frills rehearsal into a cinematic journey, some of which takes place in backstage areas of the Lyttleton Theatre. The cast also features Deborah Findlay, Tamsin Greig, Adrian Lester and Lucian Msamati.
