Anime Club JR
Anime Club JR is for youth ages 8-12 and will be held on Tuesday, Sept. 14 from 5:30 - 6:30 p.m. at the NTPRD Administration Building. Get together with friends who love anime and manga as much as you do. Club meetings will involve discussing anime, learning more about Japanese culture, watching anime, drawing and more. The registration fee is $5 and the deadline to register is Sept. 10.
Yappy Hour
Yappy Hour is for adults ages 21 and Older and will be held on Tuesday, Sept. 14 from
5 - 7 p.m. at the Snyder Park
Clubhouse Area. Bring your four-legged friend out to enjoy live music, dinner and a cold beverage. No pets, that’s okay. Come out to the beautiful park and enjoy the festivities. Yappy Hour is sponsored by Wet Your Whiskers.
Early Childhood Art Exploration
Early Childhood Art Exploration is for children ages 3-5 along with an adult and will be held on Fridays, Sept. 17 to Oct. 22 from 10 - 11 a.m. at the Springfield Museum of Art. Creativity and play abound as young children explore art in a sensory openended studio class. Class may be held outdoors weather permitting. The registration fee is $70 and the deadline to register is Sept. 10. Registration is available online by going to ntprd.org or in-person at the NTPRD Administration Building. Trail Tots
Trail Tots is for children ages 3-5 (along with an adult) and will be held on Thursday, Sept. 23 from 10 -11 a.m. at the NTPRD administration Building. This nature-based outdoor program is designed to allow your tot to explore the outdoors with hands-on activities, sensory play, music and autumn nature walks. The registration fee is $8 and the deadline to register is Sept. 20. Registration is available online by going to ntprd.org or by calling 937328-7275.
Project Scare-a-crow
Scare away the crows by creating your very own Saturday Morning Cartoon Character Scarecrow and put it on display in downtown
Springfield. The public will select its favorite scarecrow. Winners will receive honors and prizes. The Project Scare-a-crow competition is open to all ages and to submissions from local businesses, not-profits and governmental agencies. For rules and guidelines contact the National Trail Parks and Recreation District. The deadline to register is Sept. 24 The scarecrows will be on display Oct. 1 - 28. Trail Hikers
Trail Hikers is held on Wednesdays from 9 - 10 a.m. The first, third and fifth Wednesday of the month is held at Rebert Pike Nature Park and at the Kirby Preserve on the second and fourth weeks. These guided, selfpaced hikes allow you to explore and enjoy our local natural environment. These trails are all natural so be sure to wear your hiking boots. Trail Walkers
Trail Walkers is open to adults ages 18 and older and held on Tuesdays from 9 -10 a.m. The walk on Sept. 14 will meet at the Eagle City Soccer Complex to walk on the Simon Kenton Trail. Trail Walkers is a walking program which highlights the multipurpose trail system while promoting fitness, fellowship and fun.
