Tips for take your dog to work day

It can be really fun to introduce your dog to new places, and spending time in a new environment can get them used to new people, smells and experiences. Having a dog in the office can also provide a soothing, calming effect for humans, and studies show that dogs increase productivity and decrease stress levels and absenteeism in employees.
The American Kennel Club offers these tips for what you need to know if you plan on bringing your dog into work.
Is your office a dog-friendly space? Analyze the surroundings of your office before bringing in your canine companion. Remove any food or waste, as well as any small objects that could be choking hazards. Be sure that things like electrical cords or outlets are not exposed, as to prevent injury or electrocution if chewed.
■ Ask around. Before bringing your dog in, it’s important to note if any of your coworkers are allergic to dogs, or afraid of them. Obviously, you want your dog to be comfortable when you bring them in, but you also want your colleagues to be comfortable, too.
■ Be on your best behavior. Before you bring your dog into any setting, especially one like your office, make sure they are welltrained and housebroken. They should be well-socialized, even around strangers, and follow commands. If your dog tends to become anxious in social situations or these new noises and smells cause your dog unnecessary stress, it may not be best to bring them in.
■ Feeling your best. You wouldn’t come into work when you’re not feeling well, so neither should your dog. It’s important also to ensure all vaccines are up to date. Being clean and well-groomed for the occasion is also important — a dirty dog or a heavy odor might cause complaints from coworkers.
■ Have the essentials. Bring all the necessities with you, even those you save for emergencies. A water bowl, quiet chew toys, treats, clean up bags and a leash are among things you should be sure to pack. Make sure
