Movie: Deadpool 2, 8 PM on FX:
There was definitely no sophomore slump with this 2018 sequel to the 2016 darkly comic superhero blockbuster, with Ryan Reynolds returning as the snarky title character. The story finds Wade Wilson (Reynolds) reluctantly agreeing to join the X-men after his beloved fiancée Vanessa (Morena Baccarin) is murdered by an assassin. While mourning that traumatic loss, Deadpool and his fellow mutants try to stop Cable (Josh Brolin), a time-traveling cybernetic soldier. Julian Dennison, Zazie Beetz and T.J. Miller also star.
Movie: Gwen Shamblin: Starving for Salvation, 8 PM on LIF; 12:01 AM on LIF:
As the founder of the Tennessee-based Remnant Fellowship Church and the Weigh Down Workshop
— a massively successful Christian-based diet program that preached the virtue of a slim waist and the power of prayer for weight loss —- Gwen Shamblin (Jennifer Grey) was a rare woman to lead a Southern megachurch. As her church grew across the nation, so did her ironfisted grip as its leader — accumulating power and money, while creating a larger-than-life public persona with dramatically teased and towering hair in this 2023 docudrama.
